The Storyteller - a raven called Raven Bonkers, shows us the tale of the village competition. There's the witch, who wins the baby and the girl with the long hair in the tower. The prince who rescues her .... then Rapunzel, who rescues him .... Rapunzel the Vegetable Slayer!

An amazing complex tale told as only Jactito can with SEVENTY puppets in this modern version with South American and African music.

"Reading more into it" - some further quotes old and new

"James and Joan Barton, jointly responsible for the Jactito Puppets, are experienced and imaginative puppeteers who delight in creating aand manipulating a rich variety of types and the first part of the programme they are presenting at the Young Vic - "Pan's Magical Garden" - takes the form of a delightful series of fantastic transformations.

There are stick insects for example which move in a magical way despite the fact that they are manipulated by a single rod and there is a giant witch who represents the transformation of a leaf. All the strange creatures mime and dance to the music of Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" and their movements are closely attuned to the changes in the music.

The two puppeteers in fact devised a piece called "Metamorphosis" using both "The Rite of Spring" and the Holst Suite "The Planets".
